CNBC's Howard Means is next at Fairfield University's Open VISIONS | Press Releases

Image: Howard Means Howard Means, author of Money and Power: The History of Business, written as a companion book to the CNBC documentary of the same name, will be the next speaker at Fairfield University's Open VISIONS Forum on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Money and Power... is a history of business over the past thousand years told through the stories of a dozen of the millennium's most prominent moguls. The book was published in March 2001 simultaneously with the broadcast of the documentary.

Means is also the author of C.S.A. (for Confederate States of America) and Colin Powell: A Biography; and co-author of: The Visionary's Handbook: Nine Paradoxes That Will Shape the Future of Your Business; The 500-Year Delta: What Happens After What Comes Next; and the forthcoming (Spring 2002) Passionate Pursuits - profiles of some 50 Americans whose pursuit of their hobby, avocation or amateur sport goes beyond the bounds of the ordinary.

Presently self-employed, Means was, until 2000, senior editor for Washingtonian magazine. There he won two William Allen White Medals for writing and one for special sections. He was also a columnist, editorial board member and critic-at-large for the Orlando Sentinel, where he served as line editor and rewrite man for "Florida's Shame," a series of editorials on statewide environmental issues that won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing for principal author Jane Healy.
