Bellarmine Lecture Series presents liturgical dance

Image: Liturgical Dance In celebration of the Lenten season, the Bellarmine Lecture series at Fairfield University will present its first performing arts piece, "For the Greater Glory of God," a dance and theater offering inspired by the "spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola." The performance takes place on Wednesday, March 28, at 8 p.m. in the university's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Presented by the Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble of Boston College, the production uses music, dance, Biblical text and the role of St. Ignatius Loyola to make the "Exercises" come alive with renewed imagination and spirituality. The cast features Robert VerEecke, S.J., artistic director, who interprets the role of Ignatius, as well as professional dancers, actors and musicians. The audience is also invited to participate in sung responses throughout the "four weeks" of the "Exercises."

Admission is free and open to the public but tickets are required. To reserve or for more information, call the box office at (203) 254-4010 or toll free at 877-ARTS-396.
