History will be made at Bermuda Run Country Club on Monday, May 6 when Maria Beltran tees off at NCAA Regionals. The 2024 McLeod Trophy winner as individual MAAC Champion, Beltran will be the first-ever representative of Fairfield University Women's Golf to compete at an NCAA regional tournament.

Beltran, who carded an even-par 216 at last weekend's 54-hole MAAC Championship, led the Stags to a tie for second place at the conference tournament. She is the third Fairfield women's golfer to raise the McLeod Trophy, joining Sarah Scatamacchia ’01 (1998, 2000) and Allie Schick ’05 (2003).

The Bermuda Run Regional is a 54-hole event set for May 6-8, hosted by Wake Forest. In addition to the top-seeded Demon Deacons, the field includes Texas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UCF, South Florida, Tennessee, Oregon State, North Texas, Delaware, Charleston Southern, Navy and individuals representing NC State, Georgia Southern, North Florida and James Madison.

To advance to the NCAA Championship as an individual, Beltran would need to be the regional's lowest scoring golfer that is not a part of the winning team.

Beltran is in her first season as a Stag pursuing an MS in finance from the Dolan School of Business. The native of Rosario, Argentina completed her undergraduate degree in finance as a four-year member of the women’s golf program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where she was a WGCA Scholar All-American.

Director of Fairfield Golf Doug Holub is making his second consecutive trip to an NCAA Regional after accompanying 2023 men's McLeod Trophy winner Killian McGinley ’23 to the Auburn Regional last May.
