The sophomore earned an automatic bid as the individual MAAC Champion.
Rasmus Ditzinger ’28 will represent the Fairfield University Men's Golf program at the Athens Regional hosted by the University of Georgia. The 54-hole regional tournament will be held from May 18 to 20, at the UGA Golf Course.
Ditzinger, who was named the unanimous MAAC Player of the Year, earned the MAAC's automatic berth as the 2026 MAAC Champion. The sophomore birdied three of the last four holes to win the conference crown by one stroke with a 212 (-4) over the 54-hole tournament. He was the lone golfer of the 49 finishers to shoot par or better in all three rounds of the event.
Including the MAAC Championship, Ditzinger has won four tournaments this season with a total of eight top-three finishes in 10 events, including all five of his spring outings. He was previously named Fairfield Athletics Men's Co-Athlete of the Year, in addition to a unanimous All-MAAC First Team selection.
Ditzinger joins a field that includes golfers from Auburn, Illinois, Vanderbilt, BYU, Georgia, Louisville, Kansas, Northwestern, College of Charleston, Rice, Southern Mississippi, Harvard, and Howard. The top five teams and the top individual that is not a part of one of those teams from each of the six regional sites will advance to the NCAA Championship set for May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
