Thank you so much for making it possible for not only athletes but also all students who attend Fairfield University to have a good experience with a variety of opportunities. Without your kindness and donations, my college experience would look very different. Here on campus, the students are surrounded by amazing workers, professors, and we are given all the resources we need to learn, develop, and succeed. Thank you so much for all the kindness and thoughtfulness you have given to all the students.
One important and exciting moment for me was the women's win in our 200 medley relay at our MAAC championship. Me and my fellow teammates Erini, Lara, and Olivia were the first swimmers in the water for our team. We were all very excited, but terrified at the same time. We knew that we had a good chance of winning, even if we weren't seated as the favorites. However, when the race started, we gave it our all, which resulted in an important win, not only for us, but for our whole team. Our teammates were a significant part of this win because without their amazing energy and encouragement, we could never have finished first. This race was so fun, and it makes me happy every time I look back on it.
Being a part of my team is a real privilege. My teammates are not only my friends, but they have all become my family here. Both the men's and the women's swim teams. To put yourself in an uncomfortable position, where your body hurts and you almost can't breathe, is so much easier when you are doing it for someone else rather than for yourself. When you are part of such an amazing team as we are, you learn from your surroundings, and you grow. I'm a product of all the different individuals on my team, and they have given me so much during these first two years here at Fairfield University. They make the hard moments easier, and the fun moments even better.
One of my favorite memories from this year was the last day of my fall semester. My roommates and I ordered some food from Old Post Market and brought it to our dorm in Kostka Hall. Once we got back, we had a picnic on our floor. It was the perfect ending to the fall semester with good food and awesome company!
Being surrounded by many different people has exposed me to many unique perspectives that are different from what I had seen before. I think it’s a good opportunity to be surrounded by another language and culture, because you realize how much you can learn from others. I have met so many kind and influential people here at school, and even though I feel like I'm still the same person that I was when I first got here in September of 2023, I have gained so much knowledge from the business school, gotten a lot better at the English language, and most importantly become more open minded to try new things and challenge myself.
It is hard to answer questions about my future because I'm not sure what I want to do. I don't know if I want to stay in the U.S., or if I want to move back home to Sweden. The only thing I know is that I want to try new things and see new environments. I'm excited to work and start a new chapter in my life once I graduate in 2027. I hope to get a job where I can travel, meet people from different parts of the world, and learn about new cultures to find ways to collaborate and improve business environments. I'm eager to see what the future holds for me, and I have decided to be open to all opportunities that come my way because all experiences will expose me to other opportunities later on.
