Bachelor of Science, Major

Fairfield’s Mechatronics Engineering degree—one of the few bachelor’s programs of its kind in the country—is where you can explore the intersection of mechanical systems, electronics, and advanced computer-based control to design intelligent, automated technologies. From robotics and smart manufacturing, to innovations of the future not yet imagined, this program equips you to help shape the next generation of engineering breakthroughs.

What You'll Learn and Do

Solution focused – understanding everyday technologies.

By taking a multidisciplinary approach to the mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering field, students become well-equipped to design to the world around them. Students will learn to produce solutions that meet specified needs with a focus on public health, safety, and welfare and more.

Build relationships with industry professionals.

Through industry partnerships and affiliations, students will have the opportunity to get a hands-on understanding of the field. Students can take the next step in their academic or career journey through site visits, internships, and networking opportunities with Fairfield professors. Fairfield’s engineering graduates have a high employment rate in all sectors of business, government, and academia.

Become an ethical leader.

Students will work to develop ethical and professional responsibilities in the workplace. As the next generation of engineers, the students will learn how to make informed judgments through coursework. Upon graduation, students will become strong decision-makers as they balance the engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.

Turn classroom learning into real, research experience.

Experiential learning and student research opportunities starting at the undergraduate level is a pivotal part of the Fairfield student experience. As part of the robust curriculum, students are provided with opportunities to conduct innovative research with faculty mentors. Students have the chance to explore areas they are passionate about while receiving real-time feedback.
