Fairfield's Reading and Language Development program allows in-service teachers to advance their skills without stepping away from the classroom. Through hybrid and fully online formats, you'll collaborate with like-minded peers while gaining the knowledge, credentials, and real-world experience to lead literacy change.

What You'll Learn and Do

Lead with confidence—and evidence.

Learn to identify and remediate reading and writing difficulties, including dyslexia, across diverse instructional settings. Through coursework grounded in the science of reading and responsive to state and national policy priorities, you’ll gain the tools to lead in classrooms that are dynamic, inclusive, and constantly evolving. From foundational literacy to targeted intervention, our program prepares you to make a measurable impact on student learning.

Earn industry-respected credentials.

Deepen your expertise in Structured Literacy™ and pursue your Wilson® Reading System Level I Certification while advancing your graduate study. This sought-after credential signals deep expertise in structured literacy and positions you to effectively support students with language-based learning disabilities. As part of our integrated curriculum, this certification builds your capacity to deliver high-quality reading intervention that’s research-based and results-driven. Program graduates are eligible to provide Wilson® Reading instruction in school and private clinic or tutorial settings.
