Multidisciplinary students in various physical health and behavioral health disciplines will gain a foundational understanding of the field of eating disorders. This interprofessional certificate program trains students in team-based care for eating disorders and is considered best practice in healthcare education.

What You'll Learn and Do

Receive a foundational understanding of the interprofessional assessment and treatment of eating disorders.

Courses as part of this certificate/ concentration will cover etiology, assessment/level of care, best practices in interprofessional teaming, specialized treatment opportunities, prevention, and simulation. The coursework is intended to provide a substantive overview of foundational aspects of assessment, level of care determination, treatment planning, and using team-based care.

Experience hands-on opportunities.

Through simulations, students will work as a team with a simulated client/patient with eating disordered symptomology to evaluate and determine best aspects of assessments and treatment planning.

Be equipped for future career pathways.

Through coursework, you will learn via models of preventative measures of eating disorders through both health prevention and early intervention. These transferrable skills can be applied in any mental health role.

The certificate program is delivered in a part-time format to meet the needs of working adults who have graduated or never attended Fairfield. All courses are held through synchronous, online class which allows students to actively receive feedback from expert faculty and learn from one another. There is also the option to pursue the coursework as a concentration for students currently enrolled in one of Fairfield’s Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies programs, or one of the behavioral health programs offered through the School of Education and Human Development.

Applicants to the Fairfield University’s Eating Disorder certificate program must have a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. A GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
