From idea to Walmart and Amazon

New Canaan entrepreneur to share his success stories at Fairfield University

Image: M. Noonan For Mark Noonan, inventing big selling tools like a snow shovel with a wheel and a large funnel to gather fallen leaves was the easy part. But getting them into Walmart and onto Amazon.com was the hard part.

On Monday, September 29, 2014 at 7 p.m., Noonan, a New Canaan, Conn. entrepreneur, will deliver a lecture at Fairfield University, "Invention and Entrepreneurship," chronicling his experiences as the founder and chief executive officer of Nootools, LLC.  Free and open to the public, the event will take place in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, Room 101. It is co-sponsored by Fairfield University's School of Engineering and the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, in collaboration with the Inventors Association of Connecticut.

Nootools sells products focused on problem-solutions for the home, as well as sports and medical device products. 'The Wovel,' a wheeled snow shovel sold globally under its current brand 'Snow Wolf,' was Noonan's first success followed by the 'Leaf Loader,' a yard clean-up tool that gained market entry into Walmart in its first season.

In his talk, Noonan will offer insights to the topic of licensing versus building a brand and business using actual case histories to illustrate the challenges of building a business from concept inception to the global marketplace. Tips will be integrated throughout the presentation for those committed to product development and marketing. He currently has, through his company and other companies he controls, over two dozen patents awarded or in progress in product areas ranging from hardware, home, pet products, electronics, infant products and defense-related technologies.
