Food, families, fun at Alumni & Family Weekend

Area restaurants and food trucks serve up "Taste of Fairfield" samplings as part of Alumni and Family Weekend at Fairfield University, Oct. 24-26, 2014

Three-day event includes Heath Science panel discussion on Saturday and Glee Club concert on Sunday, both free and open to public

Image:Fairfield University entrance Fairfield University celebrates Alumni and Family Weekend, Friday-Sunday, Oct. 24-26, 2014 , and continues a Fairfield tradition that offers a variety of fun activities and special events for students, alumni, and families. The many highlights include the popular "Taste of Fairfield" culinary feast on Saturday, with area restaurants and food trucks serving up a variety of food delicacies. Two special events, both free and open to the public, feature a Health Science panel discussion on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Gonzaga Auditorium with prominent Fairfield Alumni discussing the Health Care Industry, and a Sunday performance at 12:30 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts by the acclaimed Fairfield University Glee Club .

Fairfield University Glee Club's Annual Alumni & Family Weekend Concert
, Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts .

The concert features musical performances by The Fairfield University Glee Club and the Fairfield University Chamber Singers conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., with accompanist Beth Palmer, and the Reverend Charles H. Allen S.J., Chaplain. Also performing are Sweet Harmony , an all-female ensemble of chamber singers directed by Julia Vos and Jennifer Dressel, and the Bensonians , an all-male a cappella group directed by Timothy Rhone.

There is no admission charge to either of these events, but pre-registration is preferred. Visit www.fairfield.edu/afw .

Restaurants and local food trucks participating in "Taste of Fairfield" include: Taco Loco, Ruff's Wood Fire Pizza, Flipside Burger and Bar, The Cheese Truck (owned by Fairfield alumnus Tom Sobocinski '14, and featured on the Travel Channel's "Man v. Food"), Uncle Willie's BBQ, Super Duper Weenie, Sugar Bakery , and Milford Soft Serve (owned by Fairfield alumnus by Pat Cole '95). At the beer garden will be Black Hog Brewery from Oxford (owned by Fairfield alumni Tom Sobocinski '14 and Mike Egmont '95). Performing at "Taste of Fairfield" at 11 a.m. on Saturday will be the LionFish Band, made up of current Fairfield University students DJ Horstmann '16, Robby Schwartz '16, Seamus Barrett '16, John Domenico '16, and Chris Finelli '15.
