On Saturday, September 10, the Jamie A. Hulley Arts Foundation will celebrate its ninth annual "Evening for the Arts" gala benefit, featuring the ultimate Motown tribute band, Dr. K's Motown Revue, at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and the pre-concert reception starts at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and complimentary wine and other beverages, along with light hors d'oeuvres.

Led by bass guitarist Paul Korman, Dr. K's Motown Revue transports audiences back to an era when the sounds of the Temptations, the Four Tops, & Gladys Knight & the Pips dominated the music charts. The band's talented musicians have performed with Motown icons such as The Supremes, Little Anthony & the Imperials, James Brown, Barry White, Natalie Cole, the Drifters, the Four Tops and the Temptations. Their music will have young and old singing along to the familiar lyrics and while there may not be " Dancing in the Streets" there will be dancing in the aisles of Fairfield University's Quick Center. And ... it doesn't matter what you wear, just as long as you are there!

The silent auction will include a vacation getaway; theatre and sports tickets; Hollywood and sports memorabilia; a Lennon Legend 32GB iPod and autographed peace bed picture donated by Yoko Ono; vintage, handcrafter, and designer jewelry; and an array of themed baskets of treats.

Hulley Arts Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created in memory of Orange, Conn., resident Jamie Alaine Hulley and dedicated to the educational enrichment and professional development of young artists and early career professionals. All proceeds from the gala go to support annual scholarships, grants, and educational programs in the arts for hundreds of children, teens and early career adults throughout the greater New Haven and Fairfield counties.

Teachers in both public and parochial schools in the two counties are invited to apply for grants to enhance the traditional curriculum through the arts. Thus far schools in Ansonia, Bethany, Bridgeport, Derby, East Haven, Fairfield, Orange, Manchester, New Haven, North Haven, Stratford, Woodbridge, and Willimantic have received grants. The Foundation also awards Community Grants to local non-profits, such as the Milford Boys & Girls Club, which received funds from the Foundation for a 10-week afterschool program in art and dance and the New England Ballet Company for a 20-week school-readiness-through-dance program for Bridgeport children enrolled in ABCD's Head Start program, while production grants helped to develop a vibrant children's and adult theater company at Square Foot Theatre in North Haven-Hamden.
