Performance coaching 2-day workshop offered at Fairfield University in December | Press Releases

Image: Paul Maloney Honing one's communication skills and enhancing one's ability to successfully project authority and leadership in today's work environment is a productive way to excel. Fairfield University's Dr. Paul Maloney will offer a two-day performance-coaching workshop through the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions (GSEAP) on Wednesday, Dec. 1 and Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days at Alumni House on the Fairfield campus. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available through the National Association of Social Workers. The cost of this interactive and comprehensive workshop is $300.

Performance coaching is a proven tool to boost goal setting, work relationships, retention, teamwork, commitment, quality and productivity. The two-day hands-on workshop uses case discussions, practice exercises, feedback, self-assessment and action planning to develop skills in areas crucial to progress in any work environment. Participants will have an opportunity to perform skills before the group by conducting a situational analysis, coaching difficult people, applying the ADEPT coaching model, setting expectations and trying effective coaching communications. With the success that only actual interaction provides, participants will strive to improve performance by selecting an appropriate coaching style.

Dr. Maloney is an assistant professor of the practice in industrial and organizational psychology. He specializes in change management, communications and executive feedback, stresses that the interactive process inherent in the workshops adds a deeper level to perfecting valuable tools that will help participants become adept at recognizing what tactics work in performance and aid in determining coaching readiness. Working in a dynamic atmosphere to apply ethical coaching practices and ultimately to enable one to conduct a coaching self-assessment can provide practical self-confidence.

Dr. Maloney's career includes senior management and development positions at NBC, Mobil Oil Corporations and PepsiCo International. He has consulted worldwide for American Airlines, Covidien, GE, Schering-Plough and Kodak.

The program has been approved for CEUs by the National Association of Social Workers, Connecticut and meets the continuing education criteria for Conn. Social Work licensure renewal.
