Michael White, Director of Fairfield University's MFA in Creative Writing, Da Chen, author of "Brothers," (2006) his first work of fiction, Hillary Jordan, author of "Mudbound," (2008) her first novel.
What
Two evenings of inspired writers - The first includes "sneak-peaks" of award-winning novelists and bestselling authors Michael White and Da Chen. White will read from his forthcoming novel, "The Beautiful Assassin," to be released in March 2010 by William Morrow. Da Chen will read from "My Last Empress," to be published next year by Crown Publishing. Chen's first memoir, "Colors of the Mountain," was a New York Times bestseller and published in six other languages. "Brothers," was awarded Washington Post Best Book of 2006.
The second evening presents Hillary Jordan who will read from "Mudbound," chosen as the 2008 New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association Fiction Book of the Year as well as winner of the 2009 Alex Award from the American Library Association and the 2006 Bellweather Prize for Fiction, awarded biennially to an unpublished debut novel that addresses issues of social justice.
