Image: D Sonnambula The Met: Live in HD is back at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts with Mary Zimmerman's new production of Bellini's "La Sonnambula" starring Natalie Dessay and Juan Diego Flórez on Saturday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m. with an encore performance on Sunday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.

Dessay and Flórez were a captivating duo in last season's "La Fille du Régiment" and they reunite their magical presence in "La Sonnambula" as Bellini's lovers Amina and Elvino, about whom Anthony Tommasini of The New York Times wrote, "...the riveting French coloratura soprano ... and the charismatic Peruvian tenor." He continued, saying of Dessay, "There are wondrous qualities in her singing ... her voice has such bloom and is supported so securely that it fills the house easily and sends Bellini's phrases soaring. Her feeling for nuance in the lines and the words is always sensitive." Of Flórez he wrote, "He certainly sings Elvino with abundant energy, stylish phrasing and ringing top notes. He won a tumultuous ovation from the audience."

Approximate running time is 2 hours, 40 minutes with one intermission.
