Fairfield University presents Puccini's Madama Butterfly Live in HD from the Metropolitan Opera.
Giacomo Puccini is one of opera's most beloved composers and Madama Butterfly is one of his finest works. The Met: Live in HD returns to Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts for two encore performances of the late Academy Award-winning director Anthony Minghella's stunning 2006-07 production starring Cristina Gallardo-Domâs in the title role with Marcello Giordani as Lieutenant Pinkerton. Also in this outstanding cast is Dwayne Croft as Sharpless, Maria Zifchak as Suzuki, Greg Fedderly as Goro, Dean Peterson as The Bonze, Edyta Kulczak as Kate Pinkerton, David Won as Yamadori and Keith Miller as the Imperial Commissioner. Patrick Summers conducts and Carolyn Choa is director and choreographer. Michael Levine designed the set, Han Feng is costume designer, and Peter Mumford is lighting designer. Puppetry is an important element in Minghella's production and is performed by Blind Summit Theatre.
Tickets are $22 general, $20 seniors, $15 children and students. There is no reserved seating.
