Ned Lamont to speak at Fairfield University on the future of the Democratic Party

Ned Lamont, who won the 2006 Connecticut Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate over Senator Joseph Lieberman, only to lose to Lieberman who ran as a third party candidate in the general election, will speak at Fairfield University on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. in the School of Nursing Auditorium. Lamont will be speaking on "The Future of the Democratic Party" and the public is welcome.

Since the election, Lamont has stayed involved in the political arena, speaking to various groups throughout the state on issues from the Iraq War to health care. He traveled to what he called "the polar extremes of the Middle East," from Dubai to Gaza City, where he said, "the vast disparity of wealth and opportunity is chilling." He continues to campaign for Democratic candidates, including Senator Chris Dodd in his campaign for the presidency.

Mr. Lamont was invited to speak at Fairfield by the Department of Politics.
