Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" is presented at Quick Center | Press Releases

In a glowing tribute to the world's greatest playwright, Fairfield University's Schooldays Series presents Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" staged by the Aquila Theatre Company of London on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. The program is appropriate for children in Grades 5 and up.

Set in Ancient Rome at the time of the Late Republic against a backdrop of a society undergoing tumultuous upheaval, civil war, conspiracy and political intrigue, "Julius Caesar" tells the compelling story of a man who would be king and his subsequent assassination. This fascinating play probes deep into the human soul, examining its relationships to power, government, loyalty and morals.

Aquila is committed to promoting classical theater through high quality, fully produced performances aimed specifically at school and family groups. In witnessing this production, young people will experience a compelling, evocative and educational performance by professionally trained actors, innovative directors and design teams.

This production of "Julius Caesar," a one-hour version, especially commissioned for young audiences, provides an excellent and accessible way to introduce young audiences to the excitement of live theater, the vital work of classical drama and one of the most important periods in human history.

Tickets for this Quick Center Outreach Program are $5; study guides are available for teachers. A workshop for educators titled "Creative Drama Across the Curriculum," for teachers in Grades 1-5, will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the Quick Center's Kelley Theatre. All workshops are $25 and include refreshments.
