"Christianity and Politics: Rules of Engagement"

The Seventh Annual Christopher F. Mooney, S.J., Lecture in Theology, Religion, and Society will present Dr. Jean Bethke Elshtain, the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Professor of Social and Political Ethics in the Divinity School at the University of Chicago. Professor Elshtain will speak on "Christianity and Politics: Rules of Engagement" on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University. Admission is free. Professor Elshtain is the author of several books, the most recent of which is "Who are We?: Critical Reflections and Hopeful Possibilities".

The lecture, sponsored by the Office of the Academic Vice-President and the Department of Religious Studies at Fairfield University, honors the Rev. Christopher F. Mooney, S.J., who served Fairfield as academic vice president from 1980-1987 and then professor of religious studies until his death in 1993. He was the author of seven books, including "Teilhard de Chardin and the Mystery of Christ," which won the National Catholic Book Award.
