Quick Center's Outreach Program to stage "Ellis Island"

Image: Ellis Island "Ellis Islandigateway to a Dream" a high-spirited musical about courage, hope and the challenges of the immigration experience, will be staged at Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 4, at 10 a.m. The show is appropriate for children in Grades 5 and above.

The musical, produced by American Family Theater, follows a group of immigrants during their time on the island. Their experiences are typical of the many thousands who came to America in the early 1900s. From the happiness of a mother about to be reunited with her son, to the humorous confusion of an interviewer who cannot pronounce the new arrival's name, to the poignant reflections of a father starting anew, their varied stories are filled with wonder.

The production is part of the Quick Center's Outreach Program and is sponsored in part through grants from The Fairfield Kiwanis Club and Unilever H & PC-USA. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased by calling (203) 254-4010 or toll-free at 1-877-ARTS-396.
