NPR Correspondent Nina Totenberg is next at Open VISIONS Forum | Press Releases

Image: Nina Totenberg Nina Totenberg, National Public Radio's (NPR) award-winning legal affairs correspondent, will be the next speaker at Fairfield University's Open VISIONS Forum on Sunday, April 2 at 3 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. She will examine the issues, decisions and justices of the Supreme Court and cast an eye toward the November presidential election.

Totenberg's reports air regularly on NPR's critically acclaimed news magazines: "All Things Considered," "Morning Edition" and "Weekend Edition." She is also a regular contributor to "Nightline" and other ABC News' programs.

Totenberg's coverage of the Supreme Court and of legal affairs in general has won widespread recognition. In 1988 she won broadcast journalism's prestigious Alfred I. duPont Columbia University's Silver Baton for her coverage of Supreme Court nominations. Honored six times by the American Bar Association for continued excellence in legal reporting, she has also won the coveted Sidney Hillman Foundation Award, the Headliner Award and the Armstrong Award. Her ground-breaking report about University of Oklahoma law professor Anita Hill's allegations of sexual harassment by Judge Clarence Thomas led the Senate Judiciary Committee to reopen Thomas' Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Totenberg's report shaped subsequent coverage by other news organizations and, in recognition of her reporting efforts, NPR received the prestigious Peabody Award.

A frequent contributor to major newspapers and periodicals, she has published articles in The New York Times magazine, The Harvard Law Review, The Christian Science Monitor, Parade magazine, New York Magazine and others. Totenberg is a regular panelist on "Inside Washington," a weekly syndicated public affairs program, and "To the Contrary," PBS' weekly news analysis program.
