Lynda Jackson-Sealy of Queens Village, N.Y., who graduated from Fairfield University on May 21, was honored at a year-end dinner on campus with the Alumni Student Achievement Award for her contribution to a greater awareness and celebration of multicultural relations on campus.

For all four years at Fairfield, Lynda was a member of "Together Effectively Achieving Multiculturalism," (T.E.A.M.), a campus task force, traveling to Belfast, Ireland during her sophomore year. The immersion experience reinforced her belief that diversity is "anything and everything that makes us different people," she observed.

In her junior year, Lynda was appointed co-director of cultural celebrations for the Fairfield University Student Association. She was responsible for organizing campus-wide activities for the University's cultural organizations, including the week-long Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration, the Unity Ball semi-formal dance, and the Student Summit on Diversity.

A politics major with a double minor in Latin American and Caribbean studies and Peace and Justice, Lynda was a dean's list student every semester of her four years. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and the national Jesuit honor society, Alpha Sigma Nu. In the fall, she will begin graduate studies in public administration and policy.
