Karen joined The Mirror as a staff writer freshman year and covered community events for two years before being promoted to managing editor junior year, and editor-in-chief this year.

Under her tenure The Mirror underwent a positive and visible change in overall quality and appearance. Karen's weekly collaboration with staff writers and editors and her organizing of news stories from more than 20 different reporters, contributed to the paper's improved content. Following the lead of most major newspapers, she added color to the pages.

Karen also initiated a plan to acquire updated computers for the staff and moved the offices to a larger facility on campus, resulting in more space and a more work-friendly environment for the entire Mirror staff.

In spite of this major commitment of her time and energy, Karen completed a double major in Communication and English, and a minor in American Studies. She is now working as a publicity coordinator for Sports Illustrated for Kids and Women in New York City.
