Jon Haug to join Project Pierre Toussaint in Haiti for two years

Jon Haug of Cranford, N.J., who graduated from Fairfield University on Sunday, May 21, will be traveling to Haiti where he will spend two years working in Project Pierre Toussaint, a program for homeless street kids.

Jon was introduced to the program last year as a member of the Mission Volunteer Program that went to Cap Haitian where the Project has established a school for 40 boys and cottages are being built to house eight boys each, along with a houseparent.

A biology major, with an interest in poetry, Jon received "The Small Pond Award for the Best Poetry Portfolio" at the year-end Arts and Sciences Awards ceremony held on campus. Jon has won numerous poetry awards and represented the university at the State level this year.

A devout Lutheran, he served as the student leader for the Protestant ministry in the Jesuit university's Campus Ministry program.
