Lyle Salmi's meditative works on view at Lukacs Gallery

The works of painter Lyle Salmi, will be on view at Fairfield University's Lukacs Gallery, Loyola Hall, Room 17, from Tuesday, Feb. 22, through Friday, March 17. The exhibit opens with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by a lecture at 6 p.m.

Lyle Salmi is a painter who creates subtle, meditative works which say much about the artist, his materials and his work. His paintings evoke a sense of space and light and might be described as the history or memory of his work process. Salmi states, "They (his paintings) exist somewhere between physicality and essence, rationality and emotion. They exist somewhere in memory...." Salmi earned an MFA in painting from Arizona State University in Tempe. An assistant professor of art at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., Salmi's most recent solo exhibition was at Eureka College in Ill.

Gallery hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. For additional information call Frances Hynes, Lukacs Gallery Director at (203) 254-4000, ext. 3418.
