John Fumasoli & The Jones Factor perform at Quick Center for the Arts

John Fumasoli will bring his ten-piece "little/big band," The Jones Factor, to Fairfield University's Wien Theatre in the Regina A. Quick Center of the Arts for three shows on Thursday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m., 8:15 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. Fumasoli, a trombonist, band-leader and teacher, formed The Jones Factor in 1986. The dynamic, musically diverse musicians, active in the New York City show and recording scene, are equally at home playing straight-ahead jazz as well as contemporary jazz. They have performed with such artists as Tony Bennett, Mel Lewis, Woody Herman, Gerry Mulligan, Louie Bellson, Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Bob Mintzer, The Temptations, Blood Sweat and Tears, Michel Camillo, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Wayne Newton.

Fumasoli has recorded more than 35 karaoke albums for Pocket Records and has produced television and radio jingles for: Montel Williams, Westinghouse, Nabisco Air Thins, Comedy Night America and Connecticut National Bank. He has been a teacher in the Fairfield Public School system (Tomlinson Middle School) for 23 years. In addition, he teaches jazz history at Fairfield University and has been a clinician at the university's Summer Jazz Camp since its inception.

The Jones Factor is currently at work on its second album. Their first C.D., Collective Jazz, was released in the summer of 1988. Band members are presently performing with the Joe Henderson Big Band, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Ensemble, the Rosie O'Donnell Show, "Beauty and the Beast," Warren Hill and Natalie Merchant. Their repertoire ranges from arrangements of jazz standards to original compositions commissioned for the band.
