"Amelia Bedelia and the Baby" staged at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts

Image: Amelia Bedelia Amelia Bedelia and the Baby, a play about a daffy housekeeper who baby-sits in her own unique literal-minded way, will be staged on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 1 and 3 p.m. in Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. The show, appropriate for kindergartners through Grade 3, will be repeated as part of the Quick Center's outreach program, Schooldays Series, on Monday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m. A study guide is available for teachers.

Staged by Theatreworks/USA's Story Salad Productions, this program offers a zesty treat of Peggy Parish's favorite storybook characters as they come to life. The company serves up a musical medley of popular little books for children including, Bernard Waber's Ira Sleeps Over as well as Maurice Sendak's Chicken Soup and Amelia. Tossed to perfection by four multi-talented musical chefs, this one-hour, fast-paced salad of stories is peppered with lively piano accompaniment.

Tickets for Sunday's production are $10, $8 for children; $5 for Monday's outreach program. There are no birthday parties for this show. The Outreach Program is funded in part by the Kiwanis Club of Fairfield, the Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation, Inc., Regina A. Quick, People's Bank and Schools in Partnership with Unilever H & PC.
