The Judaic Studies Program at Fairfield University presents Dr. Elliott N. Dorff, the author of "Matters of Life and Death: A Jewish Approach to Modern Medical Ethics," in the first of its spring programs on Monday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the School of Nursing Auditorium. He will address the specific issues of genetic testing, infertility and euthanasia.

Dr. Dorff was ordained a conservative rabbi by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in 1970 and earned his Ph.D. in philosophy from Columbia University in 1971. He is the director of the rabbinical and master's programs at the University of Judaism, where he also serves as rector and professor of philosophy. He has written eight books and numerous articles including: A Living Tree: The Roots & Growth of Jewish Law, Knowing God: Jewish Journeys to the Unknowable, and Mitzvah Means Commandment.

The lecture, sponsored by the Carl and Dorothy Bennett Center for Judaic Studies and the Schnurmacher Foundations, is free and open to the public. Other events in the series are: March 29: "Celluloid Soldiers: The Warner Brothers' Campaign Against Nazism 1934-41," April 9: Friends of Judaic Studies Donor Reception and, May 1: a Holocaust Remembrance Service featuring Hilda Scheraga, president of the Holocaust Child Survivors of Connecticut.
