Deirdre O'Mahony's paintings of Ireland's Burren on view at Fairfield University's Lukacs Gallery

Ireland's Deirdre O'Mahony will exhibit "Wrap," a series of paintings based on the limestone desert known as the Burren, in Fairfield University's Lukacs Gallery, Loyola Hall, Room 17, from Tuesday, Jan. 23, through Thursday, Feb. 15. The exhibit opens with a reception at 5:30 p.m.; a lecture follows at 6 p.m.

Former Londoner O'Mahony, winner of numerous national and international awards, now makes her home in the Burren in the West of her native Ireland. The "Wrap" paintings are an exploration of her relationship with that landscape. The series takes a very direct route into the Burren as tracings of previous histories, obliquely illuminating the human, physical and geological timelines are exposed.

Gallery hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 3 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. For additional information call Frances Hynes, Lukacs Gallery Director at (203) 254-4000, ext. 3418.
