Fairfield University faculty and current students and alumni will join Admission Counselor Jodie LaCava McGarrity, in welcoming area students and their parents to an informational reception on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 7-9 p.m. in the Marriott Boston-Newton on Commonwealth Avenue in Newton.

Debra Johns, assistant director of admissions, explained that the reception offers area residents an opportunity to learn first-hand about Fairfield University, a Jesuit university ranked as one of the top regional universities in the North. Information will be provided about Fairfield's academic programs, which this year produced six Fulbright Scholarship recipients, as well as internships, academic clubs, service opportunities, athletics and other student activities.
