Fairfield University to host regional information reception in Long Island

Dr. Orin Grossman, academic vice president at Fairfield University, will be on hand to welcome area students and their parents to an informational reception on Monday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Huntington Hilton Hotel on Broadhollow Road in Melville, N.Y.

Debra Johns, assistant director of admissions, explained that the reception offers area residents an opportunity to learn first-hand about Fairfield University, a Jesuit university ranked as one of the top regional universities in the North. Information will be provided about Fairfield's academic programs, which this year produced six Fulbright Scholarship recipients, as well as internships, service opportunities and other extracurricular activities.

Adding their own experience to the discussion will be Joan Alvarez, a 1989 graduate of Fairfield U. and a teacher at Garden City High School; and Nicolas Calcanes, a 1998 graduate of Newfield High School who is entering his junior year at Fairfield.

Questions may be directed to (203) 254-4100, ext. 2906. Reservations are recommended.
