Dr. Ann Manton of Trumbull acting Dean of School of Nursing

Rev. Aloysius P. Kelley, president of Fairfield University, has announced the appointment of Dr. Anne Manton of Trumbull as the acting dean of the School of Nursing for the 1999-2000 academic year.

Dr. Manton taught at Southern Connecticut State University before joining Fairfield in 1995. Previously she had served in various capacities at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Boston City Hospital, and the Faulkner Hospital in Boston. She was an assistant professor at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, a lecturer at the Yale University School of Nursing, and was director of the Center for Collaboration and Nursing Practice at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.

Dr. Manton is co-chair of the national Nursing Organization Liaison Forum, an organization composed of representatives from 77 nursing specialty organizations, and immediate past president of the Emergency Nurses Association. She is a design and coordination team member for the LUNAR (Learning and Using New Approaches to Research) project, a national, multi-site, first of its kind study to identify characteristics of the consumer of emergency services.

The author of numerous journal articles, Dr. Manton is a frequent presenter at nursing conferences and conventions across the country. She received a master of science degree from Boston College and her Ph.D. from the University of Rhode Island.
