Early Arrival

EARLY ARRIVAL INFORMATION FOR ALL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Students Eligible For Early Arrival Housing 

In an effort to organize requests submitted by students, the early arrival requests procedures have been developed to ensure that students, parents, and the University community are aware of the requirements for students with a need to arrive on campus prior to the opening date of the academic year.

Students who are granted early arrival status are:

  • Students who have a need to be on campus prior to Opening may include those participating in athletic training, arriving early due to long distance flights, involved in University-sponsored leadership activities, or working for certain University offices. However other students requesting to arrive early on campus should follow the same procedure below.
  • Early Arrival Request Forms must be submitted on or prior to August 27, 2018.
  • Students are required to pay $75.00 per night.
  • Requests received after the August 28th deadline will not be approved without an agreement to pay the late arrival request fee of $125.00 per night.  
  • Students who wish to gain approval except for athletes, student leaders, and approved clubs must pay before they arrive on campus by the student or department if the request is accepted and approved.

All fees should be paid online before any student can pick up their keys using breakhousing.fairfield.edu/ However, written approval must be granted before any students arrive on campus.

Important Closing Information

FALL 2019 IMPORTANT CLOSING INFORMATION

Fall Break

  • Students can remain on campus during the Fall Break - Monday, Ocotober 14th (University Holiday) and Tuesday, October 15th. Classes resume on Wednesday, Ocotber 16th. 

Thanksgiving Closing

  • Residence Halls close for the Thanksgiving Break at 6:30pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 to Sunday, December 1, 2019. Residence Halls close at 6:30pm except students with evening classes/clinicals can remain until 10:00pm. 
  • Residence Halls re-open on Sunday, December1st at 12pm. 
  • No student without specific permission from the Office of Residence Life is approved to stay after 6:30pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 or return before Sunday, December 1, 2019.
  • The Office of Residence Life Staff will be conducting Health and Safety Inspections after 6:30pm to ensure proper check-out. Failure to do so will incur an improper check-out fee.
  • Students applying for a housing extension must complete the following breakhousing.fairfield.edu/ and pay a $75.00 fee per night.  All requests must be submitted by Friday, November 22, 2019. Any request made after November 22nd, the fee for all late stays will be $125.00 per night.
  • Students with 6 p.m. classes are allowed to stay until 10:00pm.

Winter Break Closing

  • Residence Halls close for the Winter Break at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. All residents are required to leave their rooms/apartments/townhouses 24 hours after their last final or by 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, whichever comes first.
  • Students Studying Abroad for Spring 2020, changing their housing assignment, transferring or graduating seniors must check-out by 6:30pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
  • All residents moving or leaving the University are required to return their room key to the Office of Residence Life, BCC 096, or their building's staff office. Failure to do so will incur a lock change of $50.00 for traditional halls and $100 for townhouses. Improper check-out for all students is $50.00.
  • The Office of Residence Life Staff will be conducting Health and Safety Inspections after 6pm to ensure proper check-out. Failure to do so will incur an improper check-out charge.
  • Students applying for housing extension must complete the following breakhousing.fairfield.edu/ and pay a $75.00 fee per night.  All requests must be submitted by Friday, December 13, 2019. Any request made after December 13, 2019, the fee for all late stays will be $125.00 per night.

  • Students with 6:30pm classes are allowed to stay until 10:00pm. Please contact your Area Coordinator if you are staying late.
  • Residence Halls open at 10am on Tuesday, Janaury 14, 2020

SPRING 2020 IMPORTANT CLOSING INFORMATION

Spring Break Closing

  • Residence Halls close for the Spring Break at 6:30pm on Friday, March 6, 2020. All residents are required to leave their rooms/apartments/townhouses except students with evening classes/clinicals can remain until 10:00pm.
  • All halls will re-open on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at noon. 
  • No student without specific permission from the Office of Residence Life is approved to stay after 6:30pm on Friday, March 6, 2020 or return before Sunday, March 15, 2020. 
  • The Office of Residence Life Staff will be conducting Health and Safety Inspections after 6pm to ensure proper check-out. Failure to do so will incur an improper check-out charge.
  • Students aplying for a housing extension must complete the following breakhousing.fairfield.edu/ and pay at $75.00 fee per night.  All requests must be submitted by Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Any request after March 4, 2020, the fee for all late stays will be $125.00 per night.
  • Students with 6:30pm classes are allowed to stay until 10 p.m.

Easter Break

  • Housing at Fairfield University does not close for the Easter Break. 

End of Year Closing

  • Residence Halls close for the summer at 6:30pm. on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. All residents are required to check out 24 hours after their last final or by 6:30pm. on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, whichever comes first.
  • Graduating seniors must check-out by noon on Monday, May 18, 2020.
  • All residents, except those living in the Townhouses, are required to check out with a Residence Life staff member and should sign-up for their check-out time on the electronic sign-up sheet that will be sent to them by their Area Coordinator. Students are asked to sign-up early to secure their time slots and avoid waiting on move-out day.
  • All residents, except those living in the Townhouses, are required to check out with a Residence Life staff member. Failure to do so will incur an improper check-out charge.
  • Students applying for housing extension must complete the following breakhousing.fairfield.edu/ and pay at $75.00 fee per night.  All requests must be submitted by May , 1 2010. Any request after May 1, 2020 the fee for all late stays will be $125.00 per night.
  • Students with 6:30pm classes are allowed to stay until 10:00pm.

Housing Extension

Students Eligible for Housing Extensions after Residence Hall Closing

The Office of Residence Life housing extensions will be granted only to students who need temporary housing for University reasons or to those who need assistance with travel arrangements.

University-related reasons include:

  • Students with an academic reason to remain on campus after the closing date.
  • Students with athletic commitments.
  • Students with on-campus work responsibilities for certain departments.
  • International Students
  • Students who need assistance due to long distance ( this means student will need to travel via plane).

Students who formally request a housing extension by completing the online request form, may take advantage of this housing service.

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR HOUSING EXTENSION:  

  • Go to the following link and log into My.fairfield and complete the form.
  • Payment: $75 per night. Any request after the deadline will incur an additonal $50.00 fee.
  • Students who complete this form will receive an email to pay once the request has been approved.
  • In the event a student submits a request beyond the published deadline date, the student will be responsible to pay an extra $50.00 to remain on-campus.
  • Students who are staying due to athletics commitment will not incur any charges.
  • Students who are staying late due to academic commitments may not incur any charges.

Closing Dates

  • Thanksgiving closing: Housing Extension forms should be completed no later than Friday, November 16, 2018. Exceptions made after Friday, November 16, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. will be subject to a $50.00 late fee per night in addition to the $75.00 nightly fee.
  • Winter Break: Housing Extension forms for winter break should be completed no later than Friday, December 14, 2018 by 4:30 p.m. Exceptions made after Friday, December 14, 2018 will be subject to an additional $50.00  late fee per night in addition to the $75.00 nightly fee.
  • Spring Break: Housing Extension forms for Spring Break should be completed by Wednesday, March 13, 2019 by 4:30pm. Housing Exceptions made after Wednesday, March 13, 2019 will be subject to an additional $50.00  late fee per night in addition to the $75.00 nightly fee 
  • End-of-Spring Semester Closing:  Housing Extension for end of year closing should be completed no later than Monday, May 7, 2019. Exceptions made after May 7, 2019 will be subjected to an additional $50.00  late fee per night in addition to the $75.00 nightly fee.
  • All students requesting housing extension must complete the following request using the following link breakhousing.fairfield.edu/.
  • The Residence Halls will close at 10 p.m. to accommodate all 6 p.m. classes.

Early Arrival Payment Information

All fees should be paid online before any student can pick up their keys using breakhousing.fairfield.edu/ However, written approval must be granted before any students arrive on campus.
