Apply to Graduate (For students who planned to, but didn’t graduate in January, and those who did not apply for May graduation during the fall term) February 21 my.fairfield.edu $175 In my.Fairfield:
  1. Select the "Apply to Graduate" featured task.
  2. Click through the easy to navigate forms. Note: If you are a dual curriculum student (have majors in both BA and BS programs) you must select your primary major (which is the first major listed). If you do not wish for that to be your primary program, please do not complete your application. You must contact your Dean's Office and request the change. Once the change has been processed, you can proceed with your application.
  3. If you receive a message that you cannot proceed with your application please follow these instructions.
  4. Once you have successfully submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email with further instructions.

Full Time Undergraduate students: You have already been billed for your $175 Graduation Fee. This was included in your undergraduate spring tuition bill.

Part Time Undergraduates and Graduate Students (including second degree Nursing students & excluding seniors who went part-time during their last semester at Fairfield): You must submit your $175 Graduation Fee online immediately after applying to graduate. Please use your correct link below based on your school:

Please note: The payment portal only accepts credit cards. If you cannot pay by credit card, you must submit a check for $175 to the Registrar's Office within 24 hours.

August Graduates: Students completing their degrees by the end of the August 2019 term will receive a notification to apply to Graduate. August 2019 graduates can still purchase caps and gowns and obtain graduation tickets (per all information below) for walking in the May 2019 ceremony, as long as they have been granted permission by their Dean to participate.

Souvenir Red & White 2019 tassel is not to be worn at graduation. Red Stag special tassel is worn. August graduates who have been approved to walk at the May 2019 ceremony will need to order their caps and gowns in-person at the Stag Spirit Shop.

Cap & Gown Financial Assistance:
The Student Life Financial Assistance Program is an initiative within the Division of Student Life that assists students who may not have the financial means to attend or participate in University sponsored events, programs, or opportunities, especially Commencement. Once this application is submitted a professional staff member within the Office of Student Engagement reviews it. Should this professional staff member need additional information, they will contact the student to set up a meeting to discuss their application. Please note that this is a confidential process, and that the decision determined by the office/department is final. You can apply here.

Complete the College Senior Survey February 28 - May 13 Link Will Be Emailed to You N/A The College Senior Survey is an exit survey for graduating seniors that focuses on a broad range of college outcomes, post-college goals and plans. Completion is required prior to picking up your cap and gown. Paper versions, if preferred, will be available to complete at the #StagGrad Day event.
Complete the First Destination Survey Before Picking Up Commencement Tickets Link Will Be Emailed to You in April N/A An email will be sent to seniors with completion instructions on April 10, 2019. Completion is required prior to picking up Commencement tickets.
Complete Direct Loan Exit Counseling May 19 studentloans.gov N/A

Are you graduating with federal student loans? If so, students will be required to complete Loan Exit Counseling specific to their loan type at studentloans.gov. This process will review the loan history, rights and responsibilities as a borrower, and detail loan repayment information.

The Exit Counseling should take about 15 minutes to complete, and will give students important information about loan repayment options. Seniors will need their Federal Student Aid Identification (FSA ID) information to login. If students have any questions, they can contact finaid@fairfield.edu.

Completion is required prior to picking up Commencement tickets.

Complete Federal Perkins/Nursing Loan Exit Counseling Before Picking Up Diploma Link Will Be Emailed to You Mid-March N/A If students have a Federal Perkins or Nursing loan, they will receive an email in mid-March from UNISA Customer Service, the University’s loan servicer, with instructions to complete the Exit Counseling. A hold is placed on your diploma’s release & will be removed upon completion.

#StagGrad Day Event

Items can be picked up following #StagGrad Day at the Stag Spirt Shop during regular business hours

Picking up the cap & gown prior to graduation is required to walk at Commencement. Completion of the College Senior Survey is required prior to picking up your cap and gown.

Caps and gowns that were not picked up during #StagGrad Day, can be picked up at the Stag Spirit Shop on the 2nd floor of the BCC during normal operation hours after April 29th. Graduate students can pick up or buy their caps and gowns before or following the Graduate Commencement Guidelines meetings on May 14th and 15th (the meetings are 5 pm – 7 pm).
 
If you did not order a cap and gown online you may purchase them at the Stag Spirit Shop after April 29th.
 
The Stag Spirit Shop also will be open during Commencement weekend. Caps and gowns may be purchased or picked up during the days/times below:
Saturday, May 18 from 9 am – 4 pm and Sunday, May 19 from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm.

#StagGrad Day Event

N/A Students who do not have holds on their accounts and have completed their destination surveys and loan exit counseling may pick up their Commencement tickets at the #StagGrad Day Event and or afterwards at the Registrar's Office during regular business hours. Each student may claim up to five (5) tickets for families and friends to use for the outdoor ceremony
Take Senior Portraits (Manor Yearbook included with purchase) January 28 - February 1 Barone Campus Center 202 Varies

Senior Portraits are currently being taken for the Manor Yearbook. Schedule a session online at www.laurenstudios.com/.


All session prices include a copy of the 2019 Manor Yearbook, which will be mailed out by December 2019.

$106 The 2019 Fairfield Manor Yearbook is the only permanent historical record of the 2018-2019 academic year at Fairfield University. This award-winning book includes thousands of photos as well as comprehensive sections on academia, residential and student life. The senior section will contain portraits of the graduating class, plus Commencement.  Yearbooks will be mailed out in December 2019.

If students did not purchase Senior Portraits but would still like a copy of the Yearbook, please make a $106 check payable to: 2019 Manor and mail to Box A, Fairfield University, Fairfield CT 06824-5195. #StagGrad Day is an essential event for all graduating seniors. It is a one-stop shop for all tasks leading up to commencement.

Senior Week is a weeklong program that offers the graduating class opportunities to strengthen friendships, reflect on their years together at Fairfield and celebrate their accomplishments with faculty, staff and their families as they prepare for their future after Fairfield.

This Senior Week will consist of ten different events taking place on and off campus from Friday, May 10 - Sunday, May 18. Tickets are required for all events.

August 2019 graduates that would like to participate in May 2019 Senior Week events should reach out to Colleen Wilson at seniorweek@fairfield.edu for approval.

Are you graduating with federal student loans? If so, you are must understand the requirements for repayment.

It is important to repay your loans and stay current on payments, even if your financial situation becomes difficult over the repayment terms.

If you are unable to make a payment at any time, contact your lender immediately! There are deferment and forbearance options that may help to reduce or postpone payments during challenging financial times.

Timely loan repayment helps to build your credit score, which in turn creates great opportunities when applying for jobs, mortgages/leases, cars and other credit.

Are you graduating with alternative student loans? If so, contact your alternative loan lender for more information on repayment.

You can review your loan history in my.Fairfield and look up the lender's contact information. Once logged into my.Fairfield, click on the Services tab, scroll to the Financial Aid link and select Award for Aid Year or Award History.

Planning on going to graduate school? That's great! Did you know you have the option to defer your loan payments while you are enrolled in graduate school?

Some schools have enrollment requirements of at least six credits, so be sure to double check with your desired school.

In order to defer undergraduate loan payments, students must contact all of lenders (federal and alternative) for an In-School Deferment Form. Both the student and their graduate school must complete the form prior to sending it to each lender.

The Fairfield community is encouraged to nominate outstanding full-time undergraduate members of the Class of 2019 for the three Student Achievement Award categories (listed below).

Student Achievement Awards recognize seniors who have shown exceptional dedication/enhancement of a specific Fairfield program, activity, organization, or project. The student’s commitment to this activity must have resulted in the activity attaining a new level of achievement.

The St. Ignatius Loyola Medal is given to a senior who has committed themselves to high academic standards and substantial involvement in community service and/or extracurricular activities. The student maximizes opportunities for emotional, social, and intellectual growth throughout all four years at Fairfield University and exemplifies the true spirit of Jesuit education.

The William J. Kramer ’60 Humanitarian Award recognizes a senior who has shown a commitment to volunteerism and service to an external community activity that best exemplifies the Ignatian tradition of being men and women for and with others.

Attend Baccalaureate Mass May 18 at 4 p.m. Alumni Hall N/A On the day preceding Commencement, this liturgy of thanksgiving honors the senior class. During the Mass, faculty in academic regalia, administration, and staff offer blessings to the graduating students and wish them well on their future endeavors, while being serenaded by Fairfield's very own Glee Club.
