Thank you for your interest in student employment at the Department of Recreation (RecPlex). Each year, we hire certified lifeguards, certified group exercise instructors, building staff and intramural officials. Visit out Life@Fairfield to see available positions.

Recreation Positions

Front Desk Receptionist

Responsible for maintaining a customer-friendly environment which includes greeting patrons, providing access to eligible students, members and guests; answering phones and providing information to patrons, taking messages, and answering general questions about our programs; assisting patrons with court reservations; and maintaining the front desk area and operations.

Equipment/Laundry Room Assistant

Responsible for the distribution of sporting equipment, daily-use locks and towels. Collects and launders towels on a regularly basis (and intramural sports uniforms as necessary). Maintain supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels and advising supervisor. Provide break coverage to the Receptionist on duty.

Lifeguards

Currently certified as a lifeguard with a nationally recognized association and CPR and first aid certified. (All certifications must be presented prior to job offer). Responsible for the supervision of all swimmers as well as the facility. Maintain a safe, clean pool, pool deck and surrounding areas.

Building Managers /Student Staff Supervisors

Responsible for the daily operations of the RecPlex, including opening and closing the facility, student employee supervision to ensure the facility is staffed an operating appropriately, on-site risk management, policy enforcement, and administrative support to full time team. Supervisors must demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills.

Group Fitness Instructors

Energetic, encouraging students who have a passion for leading others to establish and maintain healthy lifestyles. Group Exercise Instructors must have extensive knowledge in: proper fitness programming, safety, participant motivation and communication. Nationally recognized group exercise certifications are required.
