Fairfield University is proud to announce that Women's Club Lacrosse is in its 8th year of operations as a Sport Club within the Department of Recreation. Through the efforts of several undergraduates, the club conducted organizational meetings during the fall 2009 semester. In the spring of 2010, newly-elected club officers conducted tryouts under the lights on Alumni Field. After several workouts, the club roster was set with 25 plus members.
Fairfield has been a member of the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Associates (WCLA) and the East Coast Women's Lacrosse League Association (ECWLA).
The ECWL considers the spring semester to be their "in-season" calendar. Therefore, during February, March, and April, the teams compete for conference standings. Fairfield's Club Lacrosse also plays games, and/or tournaments during the fall academic semesters. These fall smester matches will not count towards any conference affiliation.
Fairfield University currently provides the new Rafferty Stadium and University Field on campus for the club's home sites. Rafferty Stadium is home to Fairfield's varsity lacrosse programs as well as numerous Department of Recreation activites thought the year.
Club members determine their practice schedule for both semesters. Practices are typically in the evening hours, under the lights on Fairfield's campus.
With the initiative of our female undergraduates, Fairfield University and the Department of Recreation is committed to further develop the women's club lacrosse program for years to come.
