Fairfield University Men's Club Lacrosse began operations as a Sport Club within the Department of Recreation during the fall 2009 semester.
During that time, the new club officers petitioned the National College Lacrosse League www.NCLLAX.com for membership. Being promptly approved by the league representatives, Fairfield Men's Club Lacrosse is now a proud member of the NCLL. The Stags compete in the New York Metro Division.
Common opponents can be Stevens Institute, Columbia, Hofstra, NYU, Sacred Heart, Stony Brook, UMass, and Rutgers. While the NCLL Metro Division supplies a schedule template, club officers are responsible to establish their actual home and away contests.
The NCLL considers the spring semester to be their "in-season" calendar. Therefore, during February, March, and April, the teams compete for conference standings. Fairfield's Club Lacrosse will also play games, and/or tournaments throughout the fall semesters. These fall semester matches do not count towards NCLL Metro Division standings.
Fairfield University provides the new Rafferty Stadium as the club's home site. Located on campus, Rafferty Stadium opened this past February. The site has an all purpose synthetic surface on which numerous club, intramural, and varsity athletic contests are played throughout the year.
Club members determine their practice schedule for both semesters. Typically, this can mean twice a week practices or intra-squad scrimmages during the academic year.
