Supporting Fairfield University’s Global Scholars program is easy. A gift of $500 covers the full cost of housing one student throughout their entire 4-10 week internship and helps ensure the prosperity of this dynamic program for years to come.
On September 21, 2017, International Studies students, alumni, and faculty commemorated the program’s 25th anniversary with a special event featuring a keynote address by former program director, Dr. Katherine Kidd.
Dr. Kidd’s illuminating keynote challenged alumni to maintain and deepen their engagement with the program. She addressed the divergent career paths of international studies and international business alumni, and encouraged current students to seek the alumni’s expertise.
The evening also featured video presentations of students who were among the inaugural cohort of Global Scholars that completed summer internships in The Gambia, Guatemala, and South Africa.
Among the most compelling videos was Global Public Health Science major Sunny Hong’s ’19 video blog of her internship to The Gambia on the smiling coast of Africa.

The International Studies 25th Anniversary Celebration was co-sponsored by the International Studies Program, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Dolan School of Business, and the Office of the Provost.
