Sophomore Symposium

Program Overview

AACSB Accredited
Est. 1916‌The Dolan School of Business Sophomore Symposium, part of the Professional Development Series, provides students with the necessary resources to successfully navigate their college career. The fall Sophomore Symposium provides business students with an overview of academic programs and co-curricular learning opportunities. The spring Sophomore Symposium provides an overview of professional skills development and career preparation.

The Symposiums are designed to assist students in navigating their next 3 years at Fairfield University and to provide a forum to discuss learning opportunities with faculty, administrators, Dolan School of Business Advisory Council Members, and fellow business students and alumni.

Sophomore Symposium I

  • ‌Provides an overview of course and program offerings, individualized plans of study, internships, international education opportunities, and university involvement
  • Features information and highlights from the Career Planning Center and the Study Abroad Office
  • Features Dolan School of Business students who will share their experiences and recommendations

Sophomore Symposium II

Required Event for ALL DSB Sophomores

  • PDS credit awarded
  • Career preparation panel featuring recent DSB alumni from the past 5 years
  • Panelists will share their professional journeys and offer recommendations and guidance
  • Topics of discussion will include:
    • Influence of chosen DSB major on current professional position
    • Professional skills development
    • Importance of networking
    • Interviewing skills
