About

As part of Fairfield University’s mission and Jesuit tradition, Fairfield Dolan is committed to the development of mind, body, and spirit, and to lifelong learning, for all of our community members. The Fairfield Dolan Centers house our Career Development Center, the Patrick J. Waide Center for Applied Ethics, and the Entrepreneurship Center.

The joint mission of the Centers is to support the development of principled and innovative business leaders for lifelong success. This space engages our thriving community of local alumni and business leaders who are committed to giving back to Fairfield Dolan students in the form of advising, mentoring, and coaching.

Patrick J. Waide Center for Applied Ethics

The Patrick J. Waide Center for Applied Ethics advances learning, research, and practical programs about the leading ethics issues of our time. The Waide Center works with Fairfield University students and faculty, and regional leaders in a wide variety of fields, to develop strategies for managing serious ethical challenges. Standing in the Jesuit tradition of preparing men and women for others, the Waide Center seeks to develop and strengthen the capacities of persons to engage ethics issues in a reflective and pragmatic way.

The Waide Center pursues three strategic directions:

Curriculum. The Center offers courses across the University on ethics issues in various professions and fields, including business, nursing and health studies, engineering, communication, and the environment.

Research. The Center supports studies conducted by students, faculty, and practitioners, primarily through competitively-awarded stipends.

Outreach. The Center develops and facilitates a variety of programs – speakers’ series, panel discussions, workshops, and mentored relationships – to serve constituents beyond the University campus.
