Office of Sponsored Programs

The Office of Sponsored Programs provides assistance to faculty and staff in the identification of federal, state, or local funding opportunities, supports the submission of proposals, award acceptance, issuance of subaward agreements, and provides assistance with the management and agency specific compliance of all sponsored awards. The Office supports faculty and staff at all levels of the grant-seeking process.

Pre-Award Administration

The Sponsored Programs Director works closely with faculty and staff to identify funding opportunities and offers guidance on the application process, proposal compliance requirements, and university policies. The Director works directly with the Principal Investigator/Project Director (PI/PD) through one-on-one meetings to assist with the following:

  • Provide support with the interpretation of guidelines and instructions of sponsor requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and cost-sharing arrangements (if applicable)
  • Assist with proposal development with non-discipline specific sections of the proposal
  • Support in the submission of the proposal

Post-Award Administration

The office of Sponsored Programs manages all contracts and grant awards and works with the Finance Office on the initiation of the award and all post-management financial reporting. Other support includes:

  • Works with the PI/PD to manage the award from the onset to the close-out of the award
  • Initiate the budget set up for the new project of which the PI/PD can view the budget, expenditure details, and balance
  • Assist with the preparation of progress and financial reports, and other reporting specifications according to award requirements
  • Monitor agency requirements and advises the PI/PD regarding changes in agency and federal regulations
  • Act as the liaison between PI/PD and the sponsor’s representative including, but not limited to no-cost extensions, budget revisions, and changes in key personnel
  • Support project final close-out and submission of final financial report and any other final documents required by the funder
