Student Tips For Attending A Career Fair

  • Watch two brief videos about virtual career fairs: Attending an Event as a Participant  and a ‘How To’ video.
  • Students will be able to preview the employers that will be participating.
  • Identify and research companies of interest and prepare questions in advance.
  • Develop an elevator pitch to answer the question, “tell me about yourself?”
  • Make sure your resume is up to date and upload it to the virtual fair system.
  • Dress professionally and take notes.
  • Ask employers for their contact information so you can follow up with them after the Career Fair.
  • After each discussion with an employer, write down a few notes that you can use when you follow up with them.
  • Write a thank you note to employers who provided contact information and follow up on any activities discussed.
  • Make an appointment with a counselor in the Career Center, College of Arts & Sciences or Dolan School to develop a strategy for your career after Fairfield University.
