Pre-College Immersion Program

Our non-credit residential Pre-College Immersion Program allows high school students to experience college life on Fairfield University’s beautiful campus while learning from some of our most engaging professors. Students will make new friends from across the country while exploring possible college majors and career options.

Session Dates & Courses

Our non-credit courses run all-day over a five-day week (July 8-13, 2018) and includes college preparation (applications, essays, and interviews), social and cultural activities, and service events. Students focus on one of three academic tracks:


Students in a classroom 

Forensic Psychology  (SHS 0011)

Faculty: Josh Elliott, PHD
Session Dates: July 8-13, 2018
Description: This course examines the intersection of psychology and the law. Topics include lie detection, eyewitness testimony, criminal profiling, jury selection, the insanity defense, offender treatment, juvenile justice, and the death penalty. Case studies, trials, and psychological research will be studied to better understand the psychological aspects of crime.

Nursing: The Possibilities are Endless (SHS 0013)

Session Dates: July 8-13, 2018
Description: Spend a week in the world of nursing learning about the many opportunities available in the nursing profession. Specific opportunities include the basics of first aid, CPR, and other realistic experiences in the Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies state-of-the-art simulation lab. Students will come away with an understating of the many possibilities a career in nursing holds with a targeted focus on their personal interests for their future in health care.

Application Process

The Pre-College Immersion Program is open to rising sophomore, junior, and senior high school students, ages 15 and older. The residential program cost is $2,100 and includes room and board and enrichment programming. A limited number of seats have also been reserved for commuter students at a cost of $1,800. The commuter option includes all enrichment programming and runs from 8:30a.m.-6p.m., Monday-Friday. To learn more about this option, please contact us at

Priority Deadline: May 31, 2018
Rolling Deadline: June 15, 2018
Final Deadline: June 30, 2018

Required application materials include an unofficial transcript to verify a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher and no suspensions on record.

To strengthen your application, you may also submit the following optional items:

  • Brief Essay (optional) answering one of three questions:
    • You can have dinner with anyone (past or present-day). Whom would you choose, where would you dine, and why?
    • What do you think is the most significant invention or innovation of the past 50 years? What would the world be like today without this invention?
    • If you could spend one week as a fictional character from any book, film, or series, whom would you choose and what would you do during that week?
  • Letter of Recommendation (optional) from a teacher, guidance counselor, or employer. *Please comment on this student's eligibility for this program, including interest and aptitude in science, level of maturity, responsibility, and attitude.
