If You Need 5 Reasons to Get Hyped for the New Semester, Read This

Being home for the holidays is great. You get quality time with loved ones, home-cooked meals (yum), and that familiar dent in the sofa that took almost five years to make (this is the best part). But even though you're having a great month of R&R, college student, we know you're probably wondering what the spring semester holds in store too. We know just what's in store, so sit back, scroll down, and get hyped for an incredible return to college life.

1.  Reuniting with your crew.

You just spent the past three months with your new college squad—how have you all made it a whole holiday apart?—and come January, it's time to reunite the band. While you're hanging out in your hometown, you can look forward to seeing all of your friends back on campus in the new year. Distance definitely makes the heart grow fonder, so relish in the time apart from your college friends; you'll be more than ready for the hugs and smiles when you all return.

2.  Meeting new teachers.

With the new semester comes the chance to meet a slew of new professors. Your teachers are the ones who guide, connect, and inspire you while you're on campus, and help you become the best version of you that you can be. With each new course you take, you meet someone who could be a mentor, the all-important recommendation when you start your post-graduation job hunt, or even a friend. Think of the positive impacts your teachers have had on you in the past, and walk confidently toward the new relationships that await you just through those classroom doors.

3.  Sharing a meal.

Nothing beats home cooking, but we know you're probably missing the college eating experience deep down inside. Because it's not just the food: It's sitting with your campus family you've made, snacking on a new dish every night, updating each other on your separate days. We've no doubt that your holiday feast was top notch, but there's a whole set of memories you're going to get back to making once you're back to sharing a table with your friends at school.

4.  Embracing new adventures.

College is the platform for you to grow the ideas in your head, evolve the values in your heart, and find your calling in the world. That's why, in college, the opportunities to try new things are endless. From leadership organizations like your student government, to intramural sports teams and service learning programs, chances are that your school has it all. You can join that club your roommate keeps talking about, sign up for a research trip with the professor who's given you new interests, learn more about studying abroad—honestly, the world is your oyster each time a new semester begin. Get ready to have a blast.

5.  Taking a (spring) break.

A break? You're already on a break! It's true, though: The second you start your new semester, spring break is on the horizon. So while you're on one break, why not start dreaming about the next?
So, with these bits of wisdom in mind, kick back, relax, and enjoy your mid-year hiatus. Before you know it, you'll be racing back to campus, and toward all these amazing things that await you.
