An update from Tom Pellegrino, Senior Vice President for Student Affairs
Welcome to the new Parent's newsletter!
Snow is on the ground, energy is in the air, and there is a great story to tell here on Fairfield’s campus. In this newsletter, I am pleased to share with you a glimpse of what’s ahead in the 2016 spring semester.
Our students returned to class on January 19, 2016 and the semester is off to a great start. Stag pride is alive and well as both our men’s and women’s basketball teams have been impressive at both home and on the road. Our job shadow program gave students an opportunity to connect with alumni in work environments of interest. This is a hallmark of the strong mentoring opportunities we have in place for our students. We are also looking forward to the winter retreats for our Sophomores participating in the Sophomore Residential College program – a great way to get away and reflect on those questions that get at what our students are most passionate about and how they can build upon those interests.
One of our valued traditions at Fairfield University is to welcome in the spring semester with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration week. This is a series of educational, spiritual and social events designed to engage our campus community on matters most important to the improvement of the human condition. This combined with so many other events, such as Career and Internship Fair, Senior Week, Siblings Weekend, Student Achievement Awards, Fairfield Awards Dinner and Commencement will make for an enjoyable spring.
A college experience is made complete when a student is able to take the learned experience inside the classroom and apply it to experiences outside the classroom. Our goal in Student Affairs is to provide a wealth of experiences, while paying attention to providing the types of services and supports students need to thrive and succeed. Our doors are always open. Please let us know how we can help with any issues or if you just want to reach out to say hello!
Best wishes for a great spring semester!
