Fairfield University has been named among the top 10 best catholic colleges and universities in an annual national ranking completed by college review website College Consensus. Placed at No. 9 out of the 50 included in the survey, Fairfield shares the distinction with schools including Notre Dame and Georgetown, and is the only Connecticut university to make the top 10. Fairfield is also joined by only two other New England colleges and universities in its placement at the head of the ranking.

The University’s ranking factors in its ‘publisher consensus' — the University’s combined rank from nationally and internationally cited publishers like Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, and U.S. News and World Report — which totaled 67.5 points. The ranking also considered a ‘student consensus rating,’ which gathers ratings from reputable student review websites such as Cappex, Niche, and Students Review. Fairfield’s 71 student review rating, combined with its score in the publisher rating, delivered an overall score of 69.3, placing the University at the fore of Catholic colleges and universities nationwide.

This latest ranking follows a study from Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce that placed Fairfield University in the top one percent of colleges and universities for return-on-investment (ROI), placing at No. 62 in this category. The University also ranked highly for its average alumni earning potential 10 years after graduation ($103,000), for a relatively low debt, and a top graduation rate (82%).

Fairfield ranks second in Connecticut in a state-wide analysis of the Georgetown report, coming behind only Yale University (No. 21). In the 40-year value scoring, the University out-ranks other institutions such as Trinity College, Connecticut College, Wesleyan University, Quinnipiac, the University of Connecticut, and Sacred Heart University. In the region, Fairfield also ranks higher than Amherst College, Boston University, New York University, and Syracuse University.
