FAIRFIELD, Conn (June 5, 2019) – The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University has unveiled its star-studded slate of performances, screenings, and lectures for the 2019-20 Season. In his season announcement, Executive Director Peter Van Heerden invited Quick patrons to “dive deeper into all that we do, and engage to build a stronger community with us through the arts.”

Here are just a few of the influential thought leaders who will bring global perspectives and meaningful dialogue to the Quick Center stage in 2019:

• Spike Lee will launch the Open VISIONS Forum on Thursday, September 19 at 8 p.m. with a lecture titled, “Creating Social Change Through Film: Do the Right Thing.” Prior to his appearance, a private dinner with the Oscar Award-winning writer, director, actor, and producer will be hosted by Artisan Restaurant at the Delamar Southport Hotel.
• The youngest-ever ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power will appear on Wednesday, October 2 at 8 p.m. One of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People,” Power is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and war correspondent who has been a leading voice for principled American engagement throughout the world.
• Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Presidential historian Jon Meacham will speak on Wednesday, November 6 at 8 p.m., at the Annual Student Forum, which brings Fairfield University students and influential leaders together on stage for an evening of lively discourse.

Riveting and thought-provoking arts performances like these will round out the Quick’s upcoming fall season calendar:

• On Sunday, September 29 at 3 p.m., the U.S. premiere of Cirque Alfonse’s Tabarnak performance will transform the Quick stage into a circus big top with music and acrobatic feats guaranteed to enthrall the whole family.
• Straight from her sold-out run in New York City, Tony Award-winning Broadway songstress Joanna Gleason will present the Connecticut debut of her new show, Out of the Eclipse, on Friday, November 8 at 7 p.m.
• Frédérick Gravel will return to the Quick for a trio of solo performances beginning Friday, November 14, and artist-in-residence Nora Chipaumire will also be back to unveil her newest work, The Queen vs. Nehanda, in a special work-in-progress show on Thursday, November 21.

Later in the season, when the calendar turns to 2020, the Quick Center will transport audiences from South Africa (with Gregory Maqoma’s Vuyani Dance Theatre), to India (for Mrs. Krishnan’s Party), and Portugal (in the U.S. premiere of Tom na Fazenda), before featuring some home-grown entertainment by The Capitol Steps and Connecticut’s own MOMIX.
