FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 26, 2018)—Fairfield University’s Glee Club presents the “Global Grooves” concert on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 8 p.m. at the Fairfield University Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

The concert will feature performances by the Glee Club, conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., which includes the all-male a cappella group The Bensonians and the all-female chamber group Sweet Harmony. The Fairfield University Chamber Singers will also be featured, with piano accompanists Beth Palmer and son Jonathan Palmer Lakeland, and the Reverend Charles H. Allen, S.J., University Chaplain.

The Glee Club will open the evening with Carl Orff’s “O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana sung in German Latin and will be followed by “Jupiter: The Bringer of Jollity” from The Planets, Ani Ma’amin, “Kyrie” from Annelies, and “Te Deum.” The night will also include Theatre Fairfield performing music from The Spitfire Grill. Also performing are Sweet Harmony directed by Elisa Castelli ‘18, and the Bensonians directed by Marcus DeSouto ‘18.

Founded in 1947, The Fairfield University Glee Club is the oldest club on the Fairfield University campus. The members share a deep love for music and a common desire to achieve excellence in it. The Glee Club has over 110 undergraduate and graduate singers. Their voices explore a wide variety of repertoire, experiencing diverse styles of music and enriching audiences with programming that challenges and inspires.
