The Fairfield University Glee Club presents annual spring concert, “Spring into Music”

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 6, 2018)—Fairfield University’s Glee Club presents its annual spring concert “Spring into Music” on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 8 p.m. at the St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside, Connecticut. For ticket information, call 203-637-3661. Tickets are $12 Pre-Sale and $15 at the Door. Tickets available at St. Catherine of Siena Church Rectory.

The concert will feature performances by the Glee Club, conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., which includes the all-male a cappella group The Bensonians and the all-female chamber group Sweet Harmony, as well as the Fairfield University Chamber Singers.

The Glee Club will open the evening with the Fairfield University Alma Mater and will continue with classics Viva La Musica! and A New Song. Additional music includes The Ground from Sunrise Mass, Gloria in Excelsis from Missa Carolae, and We Will Sing of a Dream. Additionally, The Chamber Singers will perform Cantar, Abendlied, Ave Maria, and Turn the Beat Around. The Bensonians and Sweet Harmony will also perform.

Founded in 1947, The Fairfield University Glee Club is the oldest club on the Fairfield University campus. The members share a deep love for music and a common desire to achieve excellence in it. The Glee Club has over 110 undergraduate and graduate singers. Their voices explore a wide variety of repertoire, experiencing diverse styles of music and enriching audiences with programming that challenges and inspires.

The Fairfield University Choirs, under the direction of Dr. Carole Ann Maxwell, have presented concerts in churches, schools, recital and concert halls throughout Europe, singing from Galway to Rome, from Florence to London, Prague, Vienna and Budapest. They have been heard in a number of prestigious concert sites, including Carnegie Hall, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., Westminster and Southward Cathedrals in London, the Aula Paolo VI at the Vatican, the United States Military Academies at Annapolis and West Point, and Disneyworld. The Glee Club’s 71st Season will find the singers in performances in Boston, New York and throughout Connecticut.
