The Quick Center for the Arts Announces 2018-2019 Season | Press Releases

FAIRFIELD, Conn (June 13, 2018) – Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts’ 29th season is bringing art and performance that is more dynamic than ever, with exciting events and collaborations with artists that expand the limits of performance. In this new season , the Quick has much to offer – from events that bring global perspectives and meaningful dialogue to our stages, to entertaining and thought-provoking arts performances, to special opportunities to witness the work of our artists-in-residence. Some highlights include:

The Open VISIONS Forum lecture series begins on Thursday, September 27, 2018 as Oscar-award winning actress and social justice advocate Jane Fonda takes to the Quick Center stage to discuss the cultural and political landscape of America today. A special dinner with Jane Fonda will be hosted by Artisan Restaurant at the Delamar Southport with tickets available through the Quick Center box office.
On Sunday, September 30, 2018, the arts season kicks off with a soulful day featuring The Hallelujah Train . This supercharged blast of authentic southern gospel features a worship service with Pastor Brady Blade, Sr. and his ‘Hallelujah Train’ gospel choir of the Zion Baptist Church, a brunch celebration with the performers, and an afternoon concert.
This season, the Quick is proud to be home to several artists-in-residence. First, Pilobolus moves in to cultivate a variety collaborative experiences all season long. Then, following a spectacular season-opener last year, Frédérick Gravel returns to the Quick to create a new multidisciplinary project. Finally, the Quick welcomes Nora Chipaumire as she completes her latest work and leads educational programs before sharing her newest piece, which delves into the intersectionality of race, gender, and other social factors.
Late in the season, join the Quick for our 1st Annual Gullah Get Down featuring RANKY TANKY . This South Carolina-based band will have audience members experiencing the joyful, rocking sounds of the Gullah Islands while enjoying a crawfish boil before the evening’s concert.
