FAIRFIELD, Conn. (September 26, 2017) — When Richard Hyman was fresh out of high school he embarked on the journey of a lifetime: linking up with Captain Jacques Cousteau and embarking on incredible adventures as a crew member aboard the Calypso . Hyman will come to share his story at the Quick Center on Wednesday, October 4 at 8 p.m. for an Open VISIONS Forum: Espresso -- a more intimate version of the University’s signature lecture series that will be free and open to the public, but with limited space.

FROGMEN "is an inspiring true adventure of a young man who pays homage to one of the greatest explorers and visionaries of all time."Hyman wrote the book nearly four decades after his voyage on Calypso  but took meticulous notes during his time with Cousteau so that he could be true to events without painting his epic in a false light. "The book conveys a lot of affection for Cousteau, known as ‘The Captain’..." according to a review by British Diver . "Although much has been written about him before, FROGMEN details the minutiae of life on the oceans with this unique man, including the media attention, and even celebrity: John Denver spent time aboard before writing his hit record ‘Calypso’ in 1975."

Since his time with ‘The Captain’, Mr. Hyman, a Connecticut native, studied environmental engineering, non-fiction writing, and business at Yale, Georgetown, and Fairfield Universities, and found a career in business management in varied pockets of the technology industry. Richard Hyman's discussion is a must-attend for adventurers, divers, environmentalists, travelers, and the perpetually curious.
